When a tree falls in the forest, does it make sound? This is a famous question, it has been asked of students for many years. The answer is “No” it does not create sound. It creates sound waves. And if there is no receiver there, tuned to the right wavelength, there is no sound.
At this very minute there are sound waves flowing through the room or place that you are in. There are video waves, waves that can produce pictures if you have the right receiver, tuned to the right wavelength.
Discerning of Spirits works the same way. Sometimes I will say YHVH has told me what to speak on, or I will say that I am going to pray about something and see if YHVH will tell me what to do. Sometimes people will say to me, how do you know that it is YHVH that is talking to you. Some will say he never talks to me. Others will say I don’t believe in things like that. I usually say that if you have the Holy Spirit living in you, you should be hearing from him. Scripture proves that he is not a dumb spirit. Do you think that the spirit would reside in you, and never speak to you? How else would the spirit lead us into truth, by teaching us all things and bringing to remembrance all things as John 14:26 and John 16:13 tells us he will? We must be tuned to (have) the Holy Spirit.
When some one says to me that the Spirit does not talk to them I think to my self well maybe this is a clue that you don’t have the spirit living in you. But really I don’t think that is always the problem, I think that YHVH’s people do hear from the spirit and do not know how to discern it when they hear it. It is very important to be able to tell when YHVH is talking to you, or when you are talking to yourself, or when the enemy is talking to you. For it is possible for Satan to get in your mind and talk to you when you get in your flesh and out of the spirit. This is something that we all do, and the enemy is ever watchful for an opening. He will take advantage of the opportunity to talk in your head and temp you to sin. This is when it is very important to be able to know what is happening. One thing for sure you know that YHVH will not tell you anything that is not agreeing with the scriptures. Or anything that is hurtful to your fellow man. I have had people tell me that they have prayed and fasted and the spirit told them that it was ok to be immersed in something other then the name of Yahshua, or that they do not have to obey the laws. I said I don’t care how much you have fasted or prayed if you are hearing that, you are hearing from the wrong spirit.
I believe that some times we are deceived by our own mind, and through our own lust. Concerning something that we want to believe, so much that we convince ourselves that we have heard from YHVH. I have seen this many times, and I have probably done it in the past. It is something we need to guard against. For we can be fooled, by ourselves, probably easier, then by something, or someone from outside of us.
I have had people tell me that they know they are living right, because they feel the spirit of YHVH while they are singing or praying. These same people then refuse to listen when they are told that they need to be immersed in water in the name of Yahshua.
Others tell me that they know that they are “saved” because they have the “Holy Ghost” and they know it because they speak in tongues. These same people say that the plan of salvation includes the necessity of being immersed in water, in the name of the savior. They don’t explain why that millions of people have the same experience that they have, but refuse the baptism in that name, are not “saved”.
If it is necessary to be immersed in the correct name (Yahshua) of our savior to be in the kingdom, then the gift of tongues is not proof of salvation. For many different peoples and many churches, have this gift, including many Catholics.
So what is this doctrine of receiving the Holy Spirit by the unknown tongue evidence? I believe it is a classic example of not discerning the spirits. And in “MOST” cases is not the Holy Spirit but a false counterfeit spirit. Scripture is clear that the Holy Spirit is the spirit of Prophecy. Acts 2:15-21 Luke 1:67-75 Acts 19:6 among many others.
The scripture is clear that there is a gift of tongues. It is clear that it is a tongue that no man knows. 1 Cor 14:2
There is a tongue also, that was given on the Day of Pentecost. Every man heard this one in his own language. The Apostle Paul refers to the scripture in Isa. 28:11 that says that men of other lips (foreign language) and another tongue (unknown) will he speak to this people. Referring to the same people that Paul was referring to in the 14th. Chapt. of I Cor. (I Cor. 14:21)
Nowhere does it say that this would be evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. The scripture is clearly speaking of two different types of tongues. One another language that is understood by people that speak other language’s and one tongue that no man understands.
And it takes a discerning of spirits to understand the difference between the two.
Now I will address the part that will be most hard to understand, the discerning of spirits in people you meet or observe, or originations and religions.
We must understand that Satan is a very busy spirit, and he is very good at what he does.
There are spirits behind anything that takes your focus away from what YHVH has put us here to do. And his bag of tricks is full of things that are very attractive to us as humans. We are aware of things like sex, that is naturally attractive to us, and we are aware of how much time we are subjected to seeing it everywhere we look, on TV in the movies, and at every shopping mall.
But he attacks us even in the things that we see with people that are supposed to be living for YHVH. In that they get into endless arguments about things in the scriptures and confuse people. There are unclean spirits behind these things. Even to the point of causing people to stumble and fall over the pronouncing of the Hebrew Names of our heavenly father, and our savior. This too is the work of unclean spirits.
Then there is the unclean spirit that seduces people into believing that the things that the Jews have picked up in Babylon are things that are truly used as tools to worship YHVH and causes people to go whoring after them. It is clear to me that the Jews are into object worship in these things, and in things like the western wall in Jerusalem, when the scripture is clear that Judah is into false worship and will be so until they cry out to Yahshua and proclaim that “blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahweh.”
Until that day comes nothing that they are doing is going to be of help to us.
This is unclean spirits at work and they are deceiving many people.
Then there is the unclean spirits that are causing people to become rebellious to our own governments, both local and national. I know that our governments are not doing right, and I know that they do not even obey their own laws, but this has gone on forever in all empires. It is the old story of the golden rule. ‘They that have the gold, make the rules.”
No mater how much we may protest and no matter how much we may disobey them it is not going to change. This is what is supposed to happen to bring the righteous government to the earth, i.e. the return of Yahshua and his kingdom.
This anti government thing is an unclean spirit also.
All these things even though they may be right, are used by Satan to take people away from the focus of what are the important things. Spreading gospel.
These are just a few of the things that are leading people off from serving Yahshua. There are many more, these are just some of them that we have had to contend with recently. The scripture says in (Eph 6:12 KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We must be aware of these things, it does not make any difference weather they are right or illegal, if it is something that causes you to loose the focus of the things of Yahweh. And his salvation.
I hope that this is a help to you as you read this, it has been a big help to me in writing it, as I myself have found myself drawn away by some of these things in my hope to bring people to the truth I have allowed some of these things to creep into my life and our assembly.
These things that I have mentioned in this writing are only a few of the things that the master of deceit will use to draw you away from your primary purpose in life. He will use anything that he can. To deceive you. Even things that are true, to make a lie out of.
Remember this that there is not any church that does not have some truths. They use these truths to bring people into their clutches and get their confidence. Then fill you with mans dung. (False teaching) Eze Chapter 4 (see our article on Man’s dung.)
Scripture says 2 Cor 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. We now know how he operates then we should not be as easy of prey to him as we were before.
We must pray for the gift of discerning of spirits, without it we are easy prey to the devourer.
